Bossier Parish sheriff's deputies and members of the Bossier Sheriff's Posse hit the streets this morning to deliver Christmas food boxes to nearly 500 elderly, disabled, and needy Bossier Parish residents.  It was a year-ending effort for Operation Blessing -- a program started by the Bossier Sheriff's Office in 1998 with a lot of help from individuals and businesses in the area.  No tax dollars are involved in the program.  Brookshire's Grocery Stores provided the hens for the Christmas boxes; Bossier Parish students collected canned goods and other non-perishable food items; and many individuals throughout the parish contributed either cash or food.

This is actually a year-round effort that provides food to Bossier Parish residents but it always takes on a special meaning at Christmas time.  In the accompanying photo, Mrs. Edgar Clingan of Bossier City gives a pat on the cheek to Bossier Deputy Randy Pease as he delivers her Christmas food box.
