Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington plans to open the sheriff's rifle range on three weekends this fall so the public can sight-in their hunting rifles.

The range, on Old Plain Dealing Road, will be open on Fridays and Saturdays September 26-27, October 3-4, and October 17-18 from 9 a-m until noon and one until four.

The sheriff's office says the range features 12 shooting lanes with targets at 100, 200, 300, and 400 yards. Basic targets will be available but shooters are welcome to bring their own paper targets.  You'll also have to bring your own weapons, ammunition, and hearing and eye protection.

Call the North Louisiana Criminal Justice Academy at 965-3525 to register.
