Do you remember the year the Titanic sank? Edna Teutsch Arnold does...first-hand! She was born February 27, 1912, in Cotton Valley so today is her 103rd birthday.

Mrs. Arnold has lived in Plain Dealing, Benton and Haughton. Just recently, she moved in with her daughter in Haughton. Since 2005, the Bossier Sheriff's Office has called her weekly to check on her welfare when she lived alone through the agency's Telephone Reassurance Program. She was also a recipient of home food delivery via the Operation Blessing program.

Her husband, Edward Arnold, died in 1987, and Edna has remained a widow since. She has three sets of relatives spanning five generations still living.

Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington and his deputies will join Mrs. Arnold and her family and friends as she celebrates her birthday at David Beard's Catfish King on 2712 Village Lane, off of Airline Drive. The party starts at 11 a.m.

Thanks to Bossier Sheriff's Lt. Bill Davis for sharing this story.
