Bossier Sheriff's Office detectives are looking for the owner of a Mongoose bicycle that was stolen by a runaway teenager a few days ago.

Deputies say the juvenile had recently run away from the Johnny Gray Jones Youth Shelter in Bossier City. He and the bicycle were located in the Haughton area near Bellevue Road. The boy admitted to using the bike, but told detectives he didn't remember where he got it.

Detectives believe the bike was stolen from around the Shed Road, Stockwell Road or Dogwood Subdivision areas. If you're missing a Mongoose bicycle, you're asked to contact Detective D. McKay at 965-3407. You'll be asked for a description of the bike and/or any unual markings on it.

As a reminder, the sheriff's office encourages residents to secure their belongings, such as bikes, lawn equipment and other items a thief could easily steal. The sheriff also recommends you lock your vehicles and take valuables out of plain sight.
