A young Bossier City mother has been arrested for leaving five of her six children -- between the ages of 2 and 8 -- at home alone and unattended.

Police say 25-year-old Jamie Lynn Tanner had left her house around 10 a.m. with her 8-month-old daughter to go to a doctor's appointment, leaving her other five children behind.

Police were dispatched to the home in the 300 block of Wyche Street shortly after 11:30 this morning to investigate a 911 hang up call from that residence.  When they got there, they found four girls and a boy alone in the house with no adult supervision. They also learned that one of the children had made the 911 call while playing with the phone.

While they were there, the phone rang and one of the officers answered it.  It was Tanner calling the house. The officer advised her that she needed to come home immediately. When she did, she was taken into custody and booked into the Bossier City Jail on five counts of child desertion.

All six of her children were placed in the custody of a relative.  As is customary in cases like this, police have notified Child Protective Services.
