A Shreveport woman is in critical condition and her husband is in jail after she fell from the bed of the truck he was driving.

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator says 46-year-old Allen Labon Wray and his estranged wife, 48-year-old Sherri Wray, spent Monday morning together. At around 9 a.m., they stopped on a private drive near Brooks Road to talk.

The couple was sitting on the truck's tailgate when Allen decided to leave, but Sherri remained in the truck bed. Detectives say as Allen drove away, he slammed on his brakes several times, then 'gassed' the truck, causing Sherri to fall out of the back.

Sherri was taken to University Health with serious injuries. Allen was booked into Caddo Correctional Center for aggravated second-degree battery under the Family Domestic Violence Act and reckless operation.
