By next spring, Bossier City should have its own Sam's Club store. Bossier City-Parish Metropolitan Planning Commission Executive Director Sam Marsiglia tells KEEL News there's a vacant lot within the Sterling Property Shopping Center on Airline Drive -- next to Academy Sports -- that Sam's Club is wanting to locate on.

"The property's already zones, so all they're doing now is going through the process of getting their alcohol approval," Marsiglia says. "And they need some approval on the lighting in the parking lot that will be done next month at the MPC level." He says that should all be done by late April. Then Sam's Club can submit a building permit, and construction can begin.

Marsiglia says this will be about a 136,000-square-foot building, similar to the Shreveport location. Once construction starts, it'll take about a year to complete. He says Sam's Club officials have told him they'd like to have the Bossier City store opened by 2014.
