Burning embers from an incinerator are being blamed for a mid-day fire at Southern Disposal Service in the 3300 block of Old Shed Road.

Bossier City firefighters were called to the scene just after 11:45 this morning and found a large outdoor pile of debris on fire and threatening to burn a nearby wooded area.  The debris pile was comprised mostly of old pallets and other wooden waste products and the flames were fanned by the same winds that blew the burning embers into the pile.

Firefighters used several pieces of fire apparatus to fight the fire and keep it from spreading to the nearby wooded area.  At one time, they had six streams of water flowing on the burning pile and were aided by a track hoe that was used to spread out the debris so they could get water to the hot spots.  It took about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.  Nobody was hurt
