[Update]  -  This water boil advisory was lifted today by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals after tests on water samples came back negative for contaminants.

[Original]  A boil water advisory will be in effect from 10 o'clock tonight (Thursday) until it's lifted by state health officials for residents and businesses along a portion of Benton Road.

Specifically, it affects an area from 1903 Benton Road to 2528 Benton Road.  It also includes Tilman Drive from Benton Road east to 2309 Tilman Drive and Northside Drive from Benton Road east to 2507 Northside Drive.

The advisory is required because water service to that area will be turned off while workers repair a water line. The repairs are expected to be finished by about 4 o'clock tomorrow (Friday) morning and the water turned back on.  However, the advisory will remain in effect until state health officials give the all-clear.

This is not a boil order -- just a boil advisory.  It's recommended that those in the affected area voluntarily boil their water for at least a minute before consuming it.  And that's a minute after it comes to a full rolling boil.

We'll let you know when the advisory is lifted.
