A boil advisory has been issued for part of central Bossier City because of a drop in water pressure.

The area involved is along Shed Road, East of Airline Drive, to Shiloh Lane and Tammye Lane.  (see map)  It includes the Misty Hollow, Bossier East, and Parkland Villa Apartments and the Circle K store on Airline Drive at Shed Road.

The drop in water pressure occurred today when a valve on a water main broke off in the closed position while a city water department crew was shutting off water to repair a damaged fire hydrant.

State regulations require that a boil advisory be issued any time the water pressure in a given area drops below accepted levels and that the advisory be relayed to the public via the local news media.  The advisory remains in effect until the State Health Department gives the all-clear that the water is safe to drink.

When a boil advisory is issued, it recommends that those in the affected area voluntarily boil their water for one full minute before consuming it.  It's a precautionary measure and not a mandatory boil order.

As soon as KEEL news is notified that the advisory has been lifted, we'll pass that information along to you
