A popular ice cream company is expanding -- and that means a few more jobs for Northwest Louisiana. Blue Bell Creameries has expanded the company's transfer station in the 4700 block of Viking Drive in Bossier City to a 13,000-square-foot full-service branch. It'll include cold storage, warehouse space, an office area and a loading dock. The facility will open in September and will serve an area from Alexandria to Stamps, Arkansas, and from the Texas state line to Minden. Blue Bell will hire an additional four to six employees immediately, bringing the total in the area to about 30. Regional Manager Andy Lambert says the new branch was needed because of population growth here in our area -- and the increased demand for Blue Bell ice cream.
