Ground will be broken tomorrow morning (11am) for a new surface water treatment facility on Caddo Lake near Mooringsport.

It's the result of nearly seven years of planning by the Town of Blanchard and has the capacity to produce five-million gallons of drinking water per day. But it's also designed to where it can be upgraded to ten-million gallons to meet future needs. The new water treatment plant will use what's called a membrane treatment process -- the first of its type in Caddo Parish and only the third in the whole state. The plant won't just serve Blanchard -- it will also provide water for the Mooringsport, East Mooringsport, East Cove, Pine Hill, and Lakeview water systems.
