State Senator Barrow Peacock talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the chances of a state budget being passed by the end of the current legislative session Monday night at midnight.

Regarding a budget deal that would be agreeable to both the state Senate and House, Peacock says, "I'm very optimistic now, compared to yesterday. People are starting to sit across the table from each other, coming to a consensus.

Commenting on a budget being passed by the House and moving on to the upper chamber, the Senator says, "It's better than it was. There's some more revenue in there." The House plan now moves on the Senate's Finance Committee where lawmakers will hear testimony from various state agencies. "That committee will report that budget to the Senate floor tomorrow, we'll vote on that budget probably on Sunday, send it back to the House and I'm optimistic that we'll wrap this up on Monday.
