We (the Red River Region of the Sports Car Club of America) held our next-to-the-last Autocross event of 2013 today on the big parking lot at the dead-end of Coleman Street in Bossier City.

Despite the cooler temperatures, we were really disappointed that only 30 drivers turned out to dodge around the orange traffic cones.  However, we also realize that there were many other major activities going on this weekend, so I guess that we shouldn't be too disappointed about the turnout.

Each driver got seven timed runs -- three in and morning and four more after the mid-day lunch break.  We were finished with timed competition runs by 1:15 but decided to let anybody who wanted to do it make un-timed "fun runs" until 2 o'clock.  And a lot of our drivers chose to take that option in exchange for helping us clean up the site and put all of the equipment away when the event was finally over.

If you'd like to get an idea of who we are and what we do, I would invite you to take a virtual ride with me in my 48-year-old Mini.  All you have to do is strap on a helmet; cinch down you seat belt good and tight, and hang on for the ride of your life.  Just hop in here and let's go for a virtual ride.

Our final event of 2013 will be on Sunday, November 3red, and I would certainly like to extend an open invitation for you to come out and join us.

So, why am I telling you about who we are and what we do?  Quite simply, I want to make you aware of what we do in the SCCA while, at the same time, inviting all of you who are interested in cars to come out and meet me face-to-face and learn more about what I do when I'm not chasing news.
