Authorities have arrested a local man in connection with a weekend shooting in Shreveport’s Cedar Grove neighborhood.

Investigators have charged 25 year old Donovan R. Samuel, of the 200 block of West 74th Street in Shreveport, with one count of attempted second degree murder for his alleged role in the shooting of 26 year old Marcus Kellum back on May 18, 2012 in the 300 block of West 77th Street. Kellum, who was shot once in the leg, told responding patrolmen two men in a primer gray pick-up truck approached him as he stood outside of a home there on West 77th Street and one of the men, later identified as Samuel, produced a handgun and fired at him. Kellum was subsequently transported to LSUHSC with what was described as a non-life-threatening injury.

Based on information gathered during the course of their inquiry, detectives were able to develop Samuel as a suspect and now believe the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the two men. Samuel was taken into custody without incident at his home and booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
