A two-alarm fire at the Aspen Apartment Complex in Shreveport displaced eight families. The fire kept more than 40 firefighters busy battling heavy smoke and flames for more than an-hour-and-a-half yesterday afternoon at the complex in the 9700 block of Baird Road. Firefighters were called out just before 3:40 to find fire coming from the front and the eaves of the building. A second alarm was called out just after 3:45. The flames were under control around 5:15. There were no reported injuries to occupants, but one firefighter was taken to Willis-Knighton North with symptoms of heat exhaustion and dehydration. The origin and cause of the fire are still under investigation. Apartment property managers have provided the displaced families with places to stay.
