The anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks is this Friday. That's also the day we'll hold our 14th Annual Remembrance Ceremony.

It starts at 10 Friday morning at the Liberty Garden, located at the Bossier City Municipal Complex on Benton Road. The public is invited to attend.

A special part of this year's ceremony is the official dedication of a 16-foot steel beam from the World Trade Center Towers. It was recoverd from Ground Zero in New York City after the attacks, and obtained early this year by Keep Bossier Beautiful for permanent display at Liberty Garden.

Bossier City Mayor Lo Walker will emcee the event, which will also feature remarks from Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington. The keynote speaker is General Robin Rand with Air Force Global Strike Command.

Attendees will also hear from Central Park Elementary student David Rojas. He'll recite his winning composition from the school's fourth-grade essay contest entitled 'Why Do We Remember September 11, 2001?'

The ceremony is sponsored each year by Bossier City and Keep Bossier Beautiful. In case of rain, the ceremony will be moved into the Bossier Civic Center.
