Rookie Pat Venditte made his major league debut for the Oakland Athletics Friday night, which in and of itself is quite the achievement. But when Venditte entered the game against the Boston Red Sox, he accomplished perhaps baseball's greatest rarity: A pitcher who can throw with either arm.

Over two scoreless innings, Venditte allowed one hit in a 4-2 loss to Boston. He was the first hurler since Greg Harris in 1995 to pitch from both sides in the same game. According to MLB records, there were four ambidextrous pitchers who played in the late 19th century.
