The Shreveport Fire Department gets an important visit this month. A team of assessors from the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) will visit the SFD's Communications Division from March 25th through 28th. The team is composed of public safety practitioners from out-of-state agencies. They'll examine all aspects of the Fire Communications Division policy, procedures, management, operations and support services by reviewing written materials, conducting interviews and visiting offices. This is a voluntary process and accreditation, if approved, lasts for three years as long as compliance to CALEA's state-of-the-art standards continues. Agency employees and the public are welcome to offer comments by phone. The public can call 318-675-2235 Tuesday, March 27th, from 1 to 3 p.m. Comments are limited to ten minutes.
