John and Stella Chan have been the proud owners of Donut City in Seal Beach, California for over 28 years now. The couple hardly takes days off and like clockwork, they get into the donut shop by 4:30 am to get the donuts going. Unfortunately for the Chan's, Stella suffered a brain aneurysm and has been recovering at a nursing home. In order to be able to pay the bills, John has had to keep going into work and run the donut shop by himself. After all the donuts sell out, John heads to spend some time with his wife. One of the Donut City regulars found out what was happening and took to social media and filled in the community. The regular informed the community that the sooner the Donut shop sold out of donuts, the more time John could spend with Stella at the nursing home. The community stepped up and they have been showing up bright and early buying donuts by the dozens.

According to ABC 7 News, ever since the Donut City regular took to social media, Donut City has sold out of pastries several hours earlier and in some cases, John can leave to spend time with Stell as early as 10:00 a.m.
