A Busy Day for Shreveport Police Investigators
Shreveport police have their hands full investigating several cases. Here are a couple of those...
Police have found the vehicle belonging to an elderly woman they believe was murdered in Shreveport's Highland neighborhood. Just before 10:30 last night, a patrol officer saw a white 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis parked near a hotel in the 1900 block of North Market. Turns out, it was the same vehicle reported missing -- and believed to have been stolen from a home in the 400 block of Vine. That's where police found an 84-year-old woman dead yesterday morning. They're processing the car for evidence in the crime. Meantime, if you have other information that will help, call detectives or Crime Stoppers.
A late-night shooting leaves a little girl critically wounded. It happened shortly after 11:30 in the 3000 block of Darien Street. That's where officers found a three-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. She was taken to LSU Hospital with a serious wound, but officials say they expect her to survive. Detectives say someone apparently opened fire on the home from a nearby alleyway. They found about 15 shell casings in that alley...and a handgun behind the home. They believe there might have been an exchange of gunfire, and that the shooting was directed at that particular home. The investigation continues.
