May 8th is a big day for our local tourism industry. Shreveport-Bossier will be among more than 75 cities hosting National Tourism Rally Day events that day, presented by the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau and the Downtown Development Authority. A "Lunch on the Lawn" will kick things off -- that's going on from 11 til 1 on the downtown courthouse lawn. The free event will feature a joint proclamation by Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover and Bossier City Mayor Lo Walker...and include live music by Airheart, free cake and food vendors. Community members are encouraged to wear red in support of the local tourism industry. National Travel and Tourism Week runs May 5th through 13th.
