The number of victims in an overnight shooting in north Shreveport has increased.

Shreveport Police Corporal Marcus Hines has told KEEL News the shooting happened just after 1 a.m. at a tire shop in the 300 block of North Thomas. A group of men were involved in a card game, when three or four suspects armed with what appeared to be semi-automatic rifles entered the building and opened fire on the men.

Two of them, identified as 37-year-old Elton Madison and 37-year-old Leatrick Benjamin, were fatally wounded in the shooting. The other eight victims were taken to the hospital by ambulance and private vehicle, where they're being treated for wounds and injuries ranging from non-life-threatening to serious.

Police say 44-year-old Henry Sherman and 36-year-old Randy Brown were last listed in serious condition. Those treated and released were 37-year-old Tyrone Coley, 29-year-old Joey Caldwell, 30-year-old Robert Baulkman and 29-year-old Richard Baker. Two other men, 29-year-old Kenneth Jones and 28-year-old Jeremy Madison, suffered only minor cuts and scrapes.

No suspects have been named so far, but Hines told us detectives are working feverishly to pursue leads, interview witnesses and gather information.
