Bossier Parish officials are teaming with Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD) to open a Multi-Agency Resource Center for anyone impacted by the Red River flooding.

Charities and non-profits are coming together to assist residents who continue to deal with flooding. Bossier officials are also providing a one-stop location on three different days so homeowners can get the help they need.

Bossier Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Deputy Director Gene Barattini says this assistance isn't part of FEMA operations, it's a gap measure where the community is stepping up to help its own citizens.

Residents will be offered free floodwater cleaning supplies, called "mud-out kits," and an opportunity to meet with local charity services, assistance agencies and non-profits that can help with food needs, cleaning debris, salvaging belongings, mold remediation and spiritual support.

The MARC will be set up at the Bossier Sheriff's Substation on Viking Drive. It'll be open Saturday, June 20, from 10AM-2PM; Tuesday, June 23, from 4-7PM; and Thursday, June 25, from 4-7PM. Free tetanus shots will also be given Saturday and Thursday to those who need them.

Here are some other Bossier flooding updates provided by the Bossier Sheriff's Office:

Bossier Sheriff’s Office has closed the River Bluff and South Bossier Parish command centers, but will stay on standby as they monitor the impact of Tropical Depression Bill.

Bossier deputies continue to patrol the areas affected by the flooding to ensure public safety.

Officials continue to monitor the levees and water levels in South Bossier.

An estimated 310,000 sand bags were used in Bossier Parish to fight flooding.

Residents are asked to hold on to their sand bags until the impact of any rain or additional flooding which may occur because of Tropical Depression Bill.

Residents will have to receive a permit by the City of Bossier or Bossier Parish to get their electric meters back in service, but officials say that fees will be waived for these permits. You can also contact AEP-SWEPCO (888) 216-3523.
