Corruption in our state is not getting any better. Governing Magazine compiled data from 2001 to 2010 about the number of public corruption convictions — governmental officials found guilty of corruption in office — in each state.

Louisiana had 8.5 convictions per 100,000 people and 10.5 convictions per 10,000 government employees at the local, state and federal levels, according to the report. Louisiana had 384 public officials convicted of corruption between 2001 and 2010, according to the data.
