During a 4th of July fireworks display yesterday in Simi Valley, California, about 35 miles northwest of Los Angeles, 28 people were injured.

As nearly 10,000 people watched the fireworks being blasted into the sky, the stage holding the fireworks tumbled over firing them into the crowd.

Eyewitness Joanne Herrera told ABC News, "Everybody started screaming and everything that was supposed to happen didn't happen, it was pretty frightening." Herrera added, " And a block of wood … came shooting down into the side of my leg." The crowd in the park was quickly evacuated and foul play is not expected.
