A Caddo Parish school bus was struck by an 18-wheeler late Monday afternoon. One child on the bus and the truck's driver were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. The mishap occurred on Westport Avenue in west Shreveport.

According to a Caddo Parish School Board release, the 18-wheeler truck was turning into a gas station when it struck the bus carrying students from Timmons Elementary.

The bus driver sustained minor cuts and bruises. The other children on the bus were shaken up, but not injured.

No tickets were given at the scene by investigating officers, but the driver of the 18-wheeler is expected to be cited.
