An accidental shooting leaves a 12-year-old Texarkana boy wounded.

Texas-side police say just after 10 last night, officers were called to a shooting in the 300 block of Breckenridge Street. There, they found the boy suffering from a gunshot wound to his cheek.

They learned the boy's 9-year-old brother found his parents' handgun and was playing with it, when it accidentally discharged. He said he didn't know the gun was loaded. The boys' mother was home at the time, but wasn't in the room when the shooting happened.

The 12-year-old is in stable condition after being airlifted to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. His wound isn't considered to be life-threatening.

Detectives continue to investigate the shooting.
