Shreveport Bossier residents can look forward to several new things for the area during 2016. Some are new eateries, while others are fun spots you might want to know about.

Bossier City will be getting Carl's Jr. Restaurant. It's coming to the Barksdale and Johnson Street near the westgate at BAFB. Construction will take a few months.

Kroger is building a new marketplace store in Shreveport at Ellerbe and Flournoy Lucas. A similar store opened in North Bossier in November to rave reviews.

Shreveport residents will finally be able to take the pooch out to play. The Dog Park is expected to open on Shreveport's riverfront at Stoner sometime this summer (weather permitting).

Whole Foods will be opening in Shreveport later this year. We should be hearing about a a job fair in the next couple of months.

After several delays, we could see work begin on a revamp of the Jimmie Davis Bridge. Work is not expected to start until May (at the earliest). Eventually the bridge will be painted purple.

Twisted Root Burger has been quite a success on Line Avenue in Shreveport and now the owners are expanding to Bossier City. The restaurant will open up shop on Airline Drive in North Bossier near the Walmart.

Speaking of burgers, Grub Burger is expected to open in Shreveport this year. It will be located near 70th and Fern.

YMCA multi-million dollar fitness complex and education center at Knight and Preston Street. It's expected to open in November of this year.

The Selber Building downtown has been sold. Numac, LLC, bought the property and will spend about $20 million to renovate the property.

Mudbugs hockey will be back in the fall. Get ready to get those tickets to see some great hockey at Hirsch Coliseum.
