According to the National Hurricane Center, a trough of low pressure over the Bay of Campeche is producing a large area of cloudiness and disorganized showers over much of the southern Gulf.

 

Strong upper-level winds are expected to limit significant development during the next few days while the system moves slightly.

The chance of formation over the next 48 hours is low with a 10 percent chance. says a low pressure system in the Bay of Campeche in the southwestern-most part of the Gulf of Mexico has a 30 percent chance of forming a tropical depression by 7 a.m. Saturday. It also has a 30 percent chance, which is considered a "medium chance," of forming a tropical depression by 7 a.m. Tuesday.
